The Mackerel

 The Sea is a constant inspiration to me and as I search different ways of expressing that, it occured to me that that teaming life within the sea is a, so far at least, untapped seam.

Fish have sustained coastal communities since, well, forever. Our Economies here in the British Isles were built on fish. Lives were lost chasing them. They are an integral part of our memories. Nursery rhymes, imagery and stories. The list is endless.

I want to celebrate the fish and The Mackerel is the first in what I hope will be a small collection of vivid, metallic gouaches honoring the fish that built The British Isles.
